Angry Alan Sugar, what a terrible businessman...

Having watched the Apprentice, (I don't watch the thing on BBC2).

Sugar said to Rafe (or whatever his name is) that if someone came to him, a manufacturer of digital satellite equipment (or whatever it was exactly), with something better than what he currently produced he would not even be willing to see them. No wonder so many of his products have failed to be commercially successful over the years, bringing his company to its knees in the past on more than one occassion. With that extreme arrogance he doesn't just deserve to come close to failure he deserves to fail altogether.

Sugar was also very vocal in his condemnation of the temporary exclusivity offered to some of the ice cream products available. Sugar had no such objection to exclusivity when he was the only technology member of the original partners in what was intended to be a monopoly in UK satellite tv provision (BSkyB). He later withdrew from that partnership with Sky turning up to provide competition against the Sugar backed, state backed monopoly.

The pitch was that neither ice cream manufacturer currently had any London contracts. So for a business selling nothing to anyone in London Sugar considered it almost the crime of the business century providing temporary exclusivity to cinemas and pubs in London in exchange for serious orders. Giving temporary exclusivity for entry into those extremely competitive markets is in my view so obvious as to be a no brainer. Sugar positively wanted the losing team to turn down deals which would be of benefit to English farmers because of the exclusivity nature. He engaged in the pretence of supporting English farmers whilst denouncing the team which gained them substantial initial business and potentially long term business due to their perfectly reasonable initial offering.

What a despicable joke. I didn't watch any previous series but was enjoying this series until this warped drivel. I won't be watching it again. Rant over.

He launched the Amstrad 6128, double the memory of the 664, within weeks after saying it was only for the states and not here for another year at least. As all games designers switched to the 6128, anyone who'd bought a 664 had wasted their money...
