Since you live in Cornwall, Eurosceptic Atlanticist - do you ever listen to BBC Radio Cornwall? Apparently (so I am told) it has won many awards and is - like BBC Radio Derby and BBC Radio Devon - regarded as one of the best local radio stations in the BBC local radio network.

I have listened to Radio Cornwall, and whilst it is excellent, I actually prefer Pirate FM.

With regard to the licence fee and the BBC, last week whilst away in another country I watched the BBC World service which was not very good and took ads, I wonder if that generates enough revenue to pay for the service ?
I don't think it does therefore the licence fee I pay subsidises a BBC service for non Brits and also pays for the BBC websites

Why is my hard earned dosh paying for other countries residents to watch the BBC?

I also noted that in the country I was in all public buildings flew the National flag and the ring of stars side by side mind you they are benefiting from our contributions

The world service is funded directly by taxpayers, not by the licence fee.

The BBC and the government often talk of the benefits of the World Service, whether you choose to accept them or not is your decision.

My County Council flies the Union flag along side the EU flag.

I suggest that the licence fee is indeed a tax what I find annoying is that whereas I pay 128GBP for the "pleasure" of having a TV receiver the fact is many other countries get what I and others pay for for nought

As regards your council (Cornwall ?) cant you arrange an arson attack

The TV licence doesn't fund the World Service, your actual tax money does, so even people who don't pay the licence fee are still paying for the BBC abroad...

They now take the flag down when the council isn't working.
