Talking Top 5 favourite films?

What are your top 5 favourite films?

It's a tough decision, but after some deliberation, I've come up with:

1. Zulu
2. Aliens
3. 12 Angry Men
4. A Few Good Men
5. Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

(In no particular order).

What are yours?

I think most films are cr@p and I detest a lot of stuff that comes out of Hollywood. I am quite fond of British made films though especially those from the 60's and 70's as I like a bit of recent history and social dynamics. Watched a good one last night on C4 even though it was made in 2000.

Gangster No1
Crime drama. In London in the late Sixties, a young psychopath attempts to emulate the example of a gangland boss and rise up through the ranks of the criminal underworld.
Sid & Nancy was quite good as well.

Manchurian Candidate was on TV the other week, credit where credit is due, a brilliant film made by Yanks.

I saw the full version of Apocalypse now at a film fesitival a couple of years ago. Agree with you about the Godfather Sequals.

In no particular order,

The Matrix
Instinct
The Shawshank Redemption
Monty Python (how can i pick just one?!)
Gattaca

Loads of others. I mainly like dystopian films, those which make you think and question, and those which identify and reflect the traits of humanity (equilibriaum, planet of the apes, 2001, etc). Also like films with clever direction and symbolism (Pi, Phonebooth, etc). Unless my mind is whirring at the end, or I have had an epiphany, the film is not worth it.
