favourite film directors' and why?

the lack of memorial films shows the lack of european and american imagination,the only good film which made me smile still was "Sideways".

Most famous film: Three Colours Blue/White/Red.

Everything he did was a masterpiece. I've seen Three Colours Red about 30 times and it's still exposing its secrets to me (it's on Sky Cinema 1 Wendesday 8pm if you're interested).
