Hello all. I've been busy and haven't been involved with the bannings that have been going on. However I do support them. I'll try to explain why.
We do use IP addresses to determine sock puppetry and we are aware that it can be an imprecise tool. However the number of sockpuppet accounts that we are talking about (4, as I understand it) all set up shortly after RJT's ban makes it unlikely that we have blocked him unfairly. Due to RJT's excellent record prior to this incident the moderators showed leniency and did not extend his ban as we normally would if a user set up a sockpuppet. However he continued to set up new sockpuppets.
He posted over 20 threads in short succession attacking two moderators in particular. Richard Allen made a number of attempts to clarify the situation regarding the banning of British Conservatism but these were ignored. So he was banned for spam and attacking the moderators.
