Richard I assume that you use IP addresses to determine who is a sockpuppet ? on that basis you are aware that ISP companies can reallocate IP addresses when someone releases the address. therefore it is feasible (although I will say unlikely) for another poster to have the same address.
Another point is that in our household for example we have more then 1 person accessing the net at one time if we all posted here what would it show ?

one other question what was rjt's original ban for please ?

Hello all. I've been busy and haven't been involved with the bannings that have been going on. However I do support them. I'll try to explain why.

We do use IP addresses to determine sock puppetry and we are aware that it can be an imprecise tool. However the number of sockpuppet accounts that we are talking about (4, as I understand it) all set up shortly after RJT's ban makes it unlikely that we have blocked him unfairly. Due to RJT's excellent record prior to this incident the moderators showed leniency and did not extend his ban as we normally would if a user set up a sockpuppet. However he continued to set up new sockpuppets.

He posted over 20 threads in short succession attacking two moderators in particular. Richard Allen made a number of attempts to clarify the situation regarding the banning of British Conservatism but these were ignored. So he was banned for spam and attacking the moderators.

Anything I post on this web forum is my personal opinion only.

It's hard to believe rjt went like this. The Mods had no option.
