    RJT has said..

"Just to say my ban was been extended until the 15th of February for repeatedly using sock puppets, no right of appeal or explanation of who those sock puppets are/were."

You are right, of course, Marilyn.

RJT has remained polite in all his postings here and he has clearly spent a great deal of time in participating in discussions in various threads.

If it is true that he is not being allowed to contribute here at this time, the block on him posting to this forum should be lifted immediately.

Marilyn wrote:.. I think it was because he wanted more even-handed moderation in modding?
He was one of several people interested in discussing the possibility of electing forum moderators. A thread was opened on the subject - one in which some forum moderators then gave their reasons why they thought the proposal would not work if put into practice.

Europhiles, leftists, supporters of the claim that there is global warming, anti-UK elements (i.e. Scottish and Welsh so-called 'Nationalists') and others from the politically correct broad left have increased in number on this anti-EU forum.

I cannot think of an example where a pro-EU troll who has been rude and/or provocative to another poster has been removed from this forum.

Nobody should be removed without warnings and indeed should only be removed as an absolute last resort.

The more voices and views the better, and it is an infringemnt of freedom of speech to take actions which, without overiding reasons, reduces the range and diversity of opinions and voices on fora.

Tarka wrote regarding RJT: He may be banned but he's having a nice time. Good for him!
Thank you for your news of RJT, Tarka.

Did you notice that the thread I opened on 2.2.2010 about RJT apparently not being allowed to post here at this time was taken down hours after it started?

This forum has lost some good anti-EU posters. Pro-EU contributors were less than polite to them - the anti-EU posters then seem to have stopped participating in discussion threads here. Some or all of them may have joined other forums.

I hope that RJT returns to this forum. His contributions here are greatly valued and I notice that he has the full support of the sort of posters who make threads interesting.

You are right to support RJT, Marilyn.

With his good manners and with all the work he has put into this forum, RJT should be being promoted - not prevented from posting here at this time.

I agree - he is a grafter like John Terry.

Yes I do remember the thread that was taken down. Here is the latest news on RJT..

    RJT has said..

"Just to say my ban was been extended until the 15th of February for repeatedly using sock puppets, no right of appeal or explanation of who those sock puppets are/were."
Regarding good posters who have left, I don't blame them, I'm soon to follow - after today I'm leaving. I've lost all respect for the mods and admin (except Alex), I now class them in the same category as the tiresome Searchlight trolls.

Seasider wrote regarding RJT: I agree Britannist....he stayed polite and on topic. Never resorting to personal attacks and I respect his position and his calmness under attack.
Thank you for your reply Seasider. Your support for RJT is, of course, welcomed.

You are right to point out (above quote) that RJT has remained polite at all times when some others have been rude - and sometimes blatantly rude - to him in their postings here.

Most of those who were rude to him were never removed, even temporarily, from this forum.

I want to know why they have not been removed from this forum.

And to think I recommended him as a mod (shortly before he was banned!)
