If there was a world-wide Flood, the impact of it on tectonic plates etc. would be cataclysmic.

I have more than a nodding acqaintance with Geology, having studied it as part of my Geography degree, and accept by the way that the continents were at one time in the past connected, or substantially connected. The 'fit' e.g. between eastern South America and west Africa is very obvious.

The only debate we have is how fast they moved apart. Some earthquakes cause the earth to split apart suddenly, creating large, wide, deep chasms. It is not a major leap of the imagination to see how a world-wide Flood would have greatly magnified such effects

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why is it a fallacy to assume that the plates have been moving apart at the same rate, despite the fact that this is the evidence we have, yet it is not a fallacy to believe that the plates moved apart at an extraordinary rate despite no evidence of this?

At least there is reason to believe the former. The latter has nothing in its favour. If you believe that it is a fallacy, then your argument must be worth of nothing but ridicule...

It seems some of the other posters on this forum have realised this before me though...

Where's there enough water to cover Everest right now given that my feet are dry? Eh, what's with that?
You obviously didn't even look at the book link I linked to from a MIT PhD.

Out of interest, was having sexual relations with your nine year old wife specifically against the law in the time of Mohammed? Genuine question, I would like to know the answer and I know you have a view on this.

The Flood is a warning to us all. So Jesus Christ told us. And he died a cruel and unfair death at the hands of those He created so that those who believed on Him, and accepted they were sinners, could be redeemed.

    That is good news

God brought the flood because he was angry with humans, so why did he wipe out nearly all the animals as well? What did they ever do to deserve His wrath?

Noah was 600 years old when he built it - quite a remarkable feat for one so old!

Is that all the missing water in your avatar? Is the Palestinian 'St George' pointing to it all up in the sky?

    Only kidding you mate.

Question: "Was Satan the serpent in Genesis chapter 3?"

Answer: Yes, the serpent in Genesis chapter 3 was Satan.

Satan was either appearing as a serpent, possessing the serpent, or deceiving Adam and Eve into believing that it was the serpent who was talking to them.

Serpents/snakes do not possess the ability to speak.

Revelation 12:9 and 20:2 both describe Satan as a serpent. “He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years” (Revelation 20:2).

“The great dragon was hurled down -that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him” (Revelation 12:9).

While the Bible is not clear as to whether or not the serpent stood up or walked before the curse, it appears likely that like other reptiles it probably did walk on four legs. That would seem to be the best explanation of Genesis 3:14, "So the LORD God said to the serpent, ‘Because you have done this, cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.’”

The fact that the serpent was cursed to crawl on his belly and eat the dust of the earth forever is also a way if indicating that the serpent would be forever despised and looked upon as a vile and despicable creature and an object of scorn and contempt.

Why did God curse the serpent when He knew that it was actually Satan who had led Adam and Eve into sin? The fate of the serpent is an illustration. The curse of the serpent will one day be the fate of Satan himself (Revelation 20:10; Ezekiel 28:18-19).

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you scornful and contemptuous of all snakes Mr Bennett?

Can I also ask - if God created the universe and everything in it, why did He create Satan? And if He is more powerful than Satan (which I presume He is), then why does he not simply destoy Satan once and for all? What IS the point of allowing Satan to go around tempting the lovely lady you have just created from Adam's rib? I just don't get it - God's life (and ours) would be so much easier without that meddlesome, naughty Satan fella.

Well he would get bored if there was no Satan to deal with.

Can you imagine an eternal life with absolute power? Must get rather uninteresting after a while.
