Max altitude for Victor was classified for some time, IIRC.

I think max altitude for the Victor R is still classified. Once you put pods on it gets down to about 47000' IIRC, temperature and pressure allowing.

I have unfortunately never seen a Vulcan fly, I have visited XH558 At Bruntinthorpe (before they blew up the Jumbo), It remains a major ambition for me. I have seen many Victors at airshows and from Black Bourton. I would like to see a Victor fly again, but I assume the RAF have thrashed them to within an inch of their airframe life

You see VC10s from Black Bourton. There are still a few of them flying out of Brize. The Victors last flew back in 1994, IIRC. I seem to remember the fairwell party at Marham. Very few Victors ever went to Brize, although that's where a lot of former Victor crew ended up. I was based at Brize and was responsible for day-to-day planning of all the air-to-air refuelling tasking in UK airspace from 1995-1997; Victors were long gone.
