Police fury as bosses tell them to 'celebrate' gipsies | Mail Online This what Ms Milani, a protege of Metropolitan Police chief Sir Ian Blair, said: Quote:
Quote:
Her directive aids and abets a community whose criminal activities infuriate most of us. If I was the boss she would be locked up in the same jail cell as the Gypsies she seems to like so much. I doubt she'd be celebrating their culture after five minutes with your average bunch of Romanian child-traffickers. Quote:

MORE racism, if not why show her picture?
“a community whose criminal activities …” And THAT is baloney. The real gypsies, the true Romany, did get involved in minor criminal acts mostly associating with survival and living off the land, the communities that are the itinerate criminal “Travelers” of today are no more Romany than I am a Dutchman. And I’m not.

By showing the picture we see that people from different ethnic groups have different motives for their views. This could be a way some from ethnic groups try to get us back - by promoting other groups against our interests.

Those are not who they are talking about though are they? The people in question are these :- 'Following the expansion of the European Union, the number of Romanian criminals known to police in central London rose from 12 in 2006 to 214 last year.' 'Police have estimated that each active Romanian criminal makes about £100,000 a year - most of which is channelled back to his home country to fund luxury cars and homes.' You are talking about Romany travellers and this is about something completely different and much more serious. Does this mean that you agree with the appointment of this woman on a £70,000 a year salary and the cost of this 'celebration'? Do you disagree with the rank and file police officers and their sheer frustration at the waste of time and resources? By just shouting 'racism' whenever a post doesn't fit your criteria I assume you hope to stifle further debate and enjoy the feel good factor of not being racist (whatever that might mean). Facts are fact though and no amount of bullying and over bearing talk will make them go away. |

The Roma in Europe are often despised. There are many projects to try to involve them in their communities, but the ones I have encountered in Bosnia, Albania and Macedonia live outside normal community life. There are Roma beggars all over the place and they carry around sleeping (drugged?) babies or small children as they beg regardless of the time of day or night. Other small children work as pickpockets and a friend of mine caught a Roma child with his hand in her pocket in downtown Skopje a few weeks back. When she wrested him from her pocket he wrapped himself around me and pretended to 'love' me, but at all times was touching looking for money belts and wallets. When I tried to remove him from me, whch I had to do carefully lest the 'Fagins' attacked me, he threatened me with stones. He then turned on the third member of our group, a former ambassador, and picked up a large piece of concrete to hit him with when he wouldn't give money. The locals did't intervene until a waiter in one of the cafes we were walking through was asked to keep the boy away.
We could have given money, but that would have meant indicating where it was on our person or getting our wallets out. This is part of the trick as it helps the 'Fagins' pick out the vulnerable for a mugging later on. The Roma were actually being 'celebrated' in the centre of a Skopje with a display of their 'contribution' to society. It wasn't very impressive, but it's part of looking after minorities in preparation for EU entry. The problem is that a lot of Roma can't integrate. Since, despite years of living in Socialist paradises, few of the adults can read or write (although they can barter in 3 or 4 languages) they cannot assist with the education of their own children. A lot of Roma live in poor areas that the locals don't want to share and are isolated. The Roma I have encountered wear scruffy clothing, although this, along with appearing unwashed, might be part of the image required to beg money - begging weeds as they were called in Georgian England. There is nothing to celebrate in a lifestyle based on begging and thieving, although the street sellers, which you can also encounter, are demonstrating initiative by selling fake Lacoste and Diesel sunglasses etc. It is not an addition to our culture whether it is supported by a black or white person.

Nope.
The Roma emigrated from northern India about a thousand years ago. Irish travellers are just that: travelling Irish families.
