Nationalists are Nasty People There are obviously many posters on this forum who think that nationalists are horrid, nasty, vile creatures who are the most loathsome specimens to walk the planet and have no right to breathe the air that other lovely, intelligent, kind and beautiful people breathe.
Why is nationalism so very heinous?
I am interested to hear the views and mind sets of those who are anti and pro nationalism.
Any chance some of you could analyse your thoughts and post them?
Nationalists are the true rebels against the European Union. Anyone who opposes nationalism is pro EU, Red Nazi, New World Order - only they're too blinded by political correctness to see it. a) "Political Correctness is in fact cultural Marxism-Marxism translated from economic into cultural terms. The effort to translate Marxism from economics into culture did not begin with the student rebellion of the 1960s. People tend to demonise their opponents or at least personalise things far too much. It is perhaps simpler than analysing their arguments, but there is more to it than that. Finding out that your political opponents are ordinary human beings can be a bit discomforting for some.
I am quite happy to accept that people with whom I have strong political disagreements may be charming, witty and intelligent, nor do I hate people for their views. I have noticed how much of the political debate in the US has been disfigured by a real hatred among some for their opponents. The antipathy to George Bush by some on the left seems far more personal and hate-filled than anything I have seen in British politics.
The idea that one's political opponents are stupid just because they do not hold the same views is also irritating. A politician widely acknowledged as intellectually one of the most gifted in the 20th century was Enoch Powell, for example. While I would not care for some of his views, it does seem futile to me to deny someone's intellectual ability on that basis.

I am all for a bit of liberal patriotism without trampling over innocent people's rights but I don't believe that Britain - or the British for that matter - are superior to any other country (or people). I would hasten to add also that I did say "Nazionalist nasties" and am not classing all nationalists as nasty people. Even if nationalists from BNP, NF and BPP camps do seem pretty nasty in their viewpoints.
The problem is, is that over the years the cultural Marxists have tampered with the meanings of words and edited dictionaries, historical facts, school text books, the Bible etc.Originally Posted by HM
A true nationalist respects the rights of peoples of every nation and doesn't think their own is any better than any other. People due to political correctness have been brainwashed into confusing nationalists with supremacists, the true Nazis are the PC brigade and those that are forcing through the EU - our own government. The Nazis are also preparing to depopulate the planet by engineering a food crisis, they are going to kill off the useless eaters by starving them to death.
To some point I have to say there is some paranoia here. I mean please, Marxists have infilitrated the Oxford dictionary?! I do disagree with a lot of the politically correct mumbojumbo but that's the definition there. Other dictonaries I've checked say similar things, along with "an extreme form of patriotism" (that crops up regularly). As I've said, I have no problem with patriotism or conservatism but I don't think fanatical nationalism is healthy and the way nationalism is embodied in Britain doesn't float my boat one bit.
There are various forms of nationalism, namely cultural, ethnic, civic, state...Wiki and Stanford encyclopedia give quite enough of explanation. Most forms of nationalistic ideas and messages conveyed in reality are probably mixed of more than one form.
It is very hard to find serious "nationalists" online. Internet is a good place for serious discussion but also a convenient spot to find useless grumbling
and perhaps a good laugh.

It would seem that the insertion of the following words in the later Oxford 2 ed rev indicate something is bad or bullying in our peoples Nationalism.
Those words,EXTREME,PATRIOTISM,SUPERIORITY OVER OTHER COUNTRIES indicate that the OXFORD books are indeed,cooked.
Could the answer be for the same reason that "poo" atracts flies?

Why would "extreme patriotism" make it "cooked"? You're not Nick Griffin in this video, are you?[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6X8QQwU00Jk[/ame]. The word 'extreme' is the best possible word for the definition; it is merely used to show that there a very strong form of patriotism abundant in nationalism. Not to make it sound "bad". Surely you can't be arguing with that?
Anyway; just to even it out I've got another definition from a reliable online dictionary. Enjoy:

Look down the various definitione here: nationalism - definition of nationalism by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.. They all suggest a similar thing: Extreme patriotism to the extent that followers are willing to sacrifice for their nation and believe it to be superior to others.
