My neighbours are in the process of installing the biggest satellite dish I've ever seen on a residential property, this monstrosity must be at least 4.5 feet in diameter. This thing is being hung on the side of next doors extension which is literally feet away from my sitting room so instead of looking out onto established bushes and trees in the gardens I have this thing blotting the landscape. What is it with people, surely there's enough stuff to watch on TV without having to go to such lengths to watch more rubbish. I'm really pee'd off
![]() These bloody things should be banned or made to go onto the roofs of houses. Grrr.

They will need to have planning permission for anything bigger than a standard dish.
If they put it up contact your local council post haste.

It was the bad vibes emanating from you that distorted their picture!

Also, the fact it was directly facing my extension might have had something to do with lack of reception.

To the best of my knowledge the planning requirements regarding the erecting of a “satellite dish” is as follows (key extracts from ODPM | A Householder's Planning Guide: Installation of Satellite Television Dishes)
You do not need to apply for planning permission to install a dish on that house, provided that: • there will not be more than one dish on the building or in the garden; • the dish does not exceed 90cm in size; • if the dish is installed on the roof, it does not protrude above the highest part of the roof; • in the case of an installation on a chimney stack, the dish does not exceed 45cm in size* and is not higher than the highest part of the stack. • “Size” means the measurement across any dimension of the antenna (excluding any projecting feed element, the reinforcing rim and supporting brackets). •
