Should the 2012 London Olympics be abandoned?

We’re in deep financial trouble thanks to the disastrous (not too strong a word) period of mismanagement by New Labour and the question really should be addressed.

Can we afford, SHOULD we afford the billions that will be spent on the 2012 Olympiad?

Personally I believe that we should withdraw from this waste of money.

It would be a terrible climb down, and result in massive loss of face, but we are looking at a problem unprecedented in peacetime and desperate times call for desperate measures and it is now increasingly becoming obvious that we are indeed entering desperate times.

I really do believe we should walk away from this huge waste of money that we are having to borrow to fund.

Affordability does not enter the equation, this government will print whatever is required and find a way of keeping the cost out of the PSBR accounts.

The only winners to emerge from this exercise will be Seb Coe and his purposely formed Olympic Company.

The English tax payer will be indebted for generations to come, the corporate players will make a killing.

I've a better idea - abandon the 2008 olympics.

Bear is right that Labour have mismanaged but let's be clear thar rising food and oil prices(as Gordon Brown admits) are a global problem.

But it's the international bankers that are creating the crisis through the peak oil scam and deliberate destruction of the US dollar. (as well as Gordons bit to destory the pound too....)

Anyway for the first time ever(since learnign the truth) I'm proud to say I don't give two sh*ts about the Olympics.

Do people realize the significance of the torch and olympic rings ?

Rings, torch have ties to Hitler's Nazi propaganda

"The torch relay that culminates in the ceremonial lighting of the flame at Olympic stadium was ordered by Adolf Hitler, who tried to turn the 1936 Berlin Games into a celebration of the Third Reich.

And it was Hitler's Nazi propaganda machine that popularized the five interlocking rings as the symbol of the Games. "

So everyone please support the olympics and all it's deep roots in fascism.......

The Olympics are a heap of cr*p. I'd rather watch 'The Sound of Music' all week.

Time for the world community to abandon it altogether.
