Default The World of Tomorrow

I've posted a couple of threads about a future independent Scotland as well as England of today - anyone care to put the eager minds to the keyboard and write up what they think the society of tomorrow will be like? Not in terms of whether there will be a 'Britain' or not, but what the kind of world you think we may have to face everyday leaving our front doors?

I thought the future independent Scotland post was a load of rubbish. I've not seen nor read the England one yet.

The future will be like it is now, except with less freedom, more government and more technology and such. There will no doubt be some other big world crisis. Whether it's still global warming and terrorism remains to be seen. We had communism for fifty-odd years, so no doubt these two have got a long way to go yet.

America gives me the most hope. They are starting up T.V. stations, organising mass rallys, getting Ron Paul books to the top of the best sellers lists and all sorts there.

I see little sign of that here though. I just hope we are lagging.

Nope. We're leading. You watch - the US will go the same way as us within 20 years.

It's a battle alright there. Could well be a losing one.

It's just I seen the flicker of resistance there. I see only embers here.

The future will be fantastic. As always, temporary restrictions on freedom will be overcome. Capitalism will be the name of the western game.

Technology and development will enhance our lives like never before.

Environmentalism will fall, just like all the other forms of socialism have/will.

The threat of Islamism will be wiped from the map.

There will be no more nihilism, everyone will be realistic and content with the achieving of their values.

We are on the winning side.

I certainly like your wish list prophecy, especially the threat of Islamism being wiped from the map!
"Everyone will be realistic and content with achieving of their values". Has about as much chance of happening as the "second coming" of Christ!

In my opinion Human society will continue to move forward as it always has. There'll be good guys and bad guys as there always has. There will be Wars as usual! Man as an animal has never improved, he may be bigger and be more Worldly wise but he still craves wealth and power, which is the reason mankind continue to move forward. There always has and always will be leaders and the lead! Until a bloody great rock from outer space whistles in and wipes out the planet Earth, mankind will continue on a daily basis breaking all Ten Commandments!

You should add.

"Historical performance is not necessarily an indicator for the future. Human progress can go down as well as up."

I reckon we have been around for millions of years, but we keep on destroying ourselves over and over again. The last lot tried to leave us a clue of their technological brilliance that they acheived, buy building something that would last for centuries.

However, we convinced ourselves that a bunch of primatives managed to lug gigantic blocks of stone, hundreds of miles and position them in precise alignment with the stars and other pyramids on this planet.

Maybe that will be our future, with the next generation of mongaloids looking at our little clues such as satelites left in the Sky and convincing themselves that they are just lumps of metal catapaulted into the sky by chimps.

(Sorry I just wondered off into the twilight zone there).
