Codify the UK constitutional law? Not a great idea. It would be thousands of pages long.

Do you not think that if people could sit on the thrown, or wear the crown, tourism income would skyrocket?

People dont come to see the Queen , they rarely do, they come to see the palace etc etc . Atleast as I understand it(Ive never been).

I don't imagine so. It would hardly be something unique; many countries have had monarchies, particularly in Europe, whereas we are one of only two European nations still with a monarch.
The traditions the monarchy keeps in place - the Changing of the Guard etc. - are probably the main attractions.

Constitutions are only able to be corrupted , or ignored, if the people let them be. Judges don't make laws.

I'd prefer a proper constitution rather than pure democracy, yea.

We have plenty of dead institutions around and none of them draw huge crowds.

Just look at the US where certain issues (like abortion) are huge areas of political debate but the judges on the Supreme Court have claimed these as constitutional issues, thus making politics essentially irrelevant. Judges do effectively make laws in many cases and the US Supreme Court is one such example.

All histories are different.

I made a mistake, by the way; there are considerably more than two monarchies in Europe. I thank the person who pointed this out.

Abortion is such a case because it wasn't much of an issue back when the constitution was created and because the US is very religious. Same sex marriage is another one, again because of religion. I cant see the UK having nearly as many problems..... other than us not respecting freedom as much as our US friends.

I should have been more specific. Our Royal family/history is looked upon as great (as in vast etc) by people of other nations.

Do the Dutch get nearly as much interest?
