Brief extract from the East London Advertiser article on the link given in the last posting to this thread:

"Official maps and documents refer to the new station as 'Shoreditch High Street.' But businessmen and political power-brokers in Brick Lane have been calling for it to be named 'Banglatown' to honour the current Bangladeshi cultural influence in the district."
