2 years 9 months for murder

I am torn on this one. When you don't get justice from the law, I can understand the urge to get justice for yourself.

However, the guy nicked a bike, not violent. The retaliation went beyond getting justice and became vindictive. They killed the guy for stealing. That isn't an eye for and eye.

I think they should have got manslaughter (not murder), but 2 years isn't enough. 10 years would have been more fair.

I seriously doubt there's political motive behind the reclassification, I expect it's just the CPS doing what they always do - going for the easy win.

Indeed it is debatable. The CPS definitely has its own agenda, but I would suggest that this does not always coincide with the agenda of HM Government.

Of course what extent the CPS can be 'leant on' is also up for debate, especially given that the government seems able to stop 'independent' investigations being conducted by the Serious Fraud Office.

Of course CPS lawyers would probably strenuously deny any involvement in massaging government figures.
