Eight consecutive posts in a row must be approaching a record even by your standards.I guess it's one way of getting your post count up.

Anyway, I pleased that Joe Calzaghe won.

Not many people do but it is a thing that I feel strongly about.

Boxing is for entertainment and gambling.

Much as is (male poultry) fighting. bear baiting, hare coursing, and dog fighting. Hopefully before much longer boxing will be added to the list of banned blood sports.

I don't think you can reasonably compare boxing to bear baiting, hare coursing etc.
The boxers have a choice.

Thread title - "UK boxer..."
Post - "Welsh boxer..."
Is he Welsh or UK or British?
On the news (BBC) he is Welsh.
If he had been English you can bet your life he would have been reported as being British.
Scots are Scots.
Welsh are Welsh.
Irish are Irish.
English are British.

That's a very good point, but at what point should people be protected from themselves?

In addition it is most probably be the NHS that will have to pick up the costs of any injury and the treasury the costs of long term injury.

I bet you wouldn't be so keen on the death penalty if a friend or relative of yours was wrongly given the death penalty.

The State is not God. The State has no right to kill except in the defence of the nation.

I repeat - the death penalty is brutal and you support it. You are not in any position to moan about boxing being "Brutal" (your word) given that you back the death penalty.

Both.

As it was announced that Joe Calzaghe was the winner, the man who entered the boxing ring to announce the result, gave the name of Mr. Calzaghe's town and his country as Wales.

It is one way of giving the readers of the thread useful information about the boxing match and/or links to it - not to get my post count up.
