What really intrigues me is who is behind the desire to eliminate smoking. There is no doubt that alcohol is equally, if not more, damaging and results in far more third party damage. Gambling also produces some pretty dreadful consequences, not only to the addict but also to their families - yet no one seems to be trying to eliminate alcohol or gambling.

Is it because alcohol and gambling don't have such an effect on the working day as smoking - are the giant corporations behind it - they don't like smoke breaks? Without a doubt this is social engineering at it's worst!

Smoking in the open is to be banned where it affects bystanders, ministers said yesterday.

The forthcoming ban on lighting up in public places has been extended to areas where there is an 'inevitable close grouping of people'.
Either I just fell through a wormhole or you're reading year-old news.

Look to Germany in the 1930s.

Taking guns off people? Check.
Banning smoking in public places? Check.

Government. Socialist monkeys. The idea is to remove freedom of choice and turn us all into clones of each other. Makes us easier to herd.

I thought it didn't sound right - I googled smoking bans and that article came up from the DM, dated today. I don't often use the DM site - the Telegraph gives the actual date of the article.

Even so my questions remain valid.

They are simply going for the easy targets first. The others will come later.

It's all very well having this ideal society - not much good if everyone is as miserable as sin! If there are too many rules where are you?

On a private beach in Costa Rica, well away from it all.

John Connor - if that's your real name - shouldn't you be doing something about all this?

I *am* doing something about it. I'm looking at real estate web sites for Costa Rica.

I've been looking for evidence that the UK isn't totally lost for about a year now - and haven't found any. So there's no point in trying to rescue it. It'll all come right in the end when the sheep wake from their slumber - I just don't want to be around when it "gets worse before it gets better".
