Thumbs up There Is No Category For Health Matters!

Why am I not surprised? People would go balistic if beer and alcohol was banned! The EU would not get away with that can you imagine!

But who realises that under the guise of that word the EU loves, HARMONISATION,...there is a huge struggle being waged to save the rights of consumers to be able to purchase a wide array of quality nutritional supplements.

This is all so that the large corporations and pharma cartels can push the small companies out of business, and so choice will be hugely limited to just a few brands in years to come, that are made my companies that have no real interest in people's health ..but in profit!!

If you were in the health industry you would be shocked at the heavy handed approach now being applied to stop people being able to sell nutritional products in an honest and balanced way. Try selling a product where you are not allowed to remotely suggest how it may benefit a person!

The drug companies are worried,...people like to try a more natural approach before resorting to drugs, which never cure, but control illness and provide often serious long term side effects.

WE are against the approach that says the doctors are gods, and you the public must obey what we say, its becoming fast a health dictatorship, you are no longer trusted to care for your own health as you choose!

Please if you do nothing else, if you want to support the main organisation that is working tirelessly to try and limit this awful situation then go to

Alliance for Natural Health and please give a donation.

There are too many people in this country who just say oh leave it to someone else to bother...will you bother when your only choice is a drug, or a nastly little vitamin pill made from synthetic substances, that is marketed as a health promoting product... believe you me there is a big difference!

So please add a health section to this forum..looking after our own health as we choice, surely is a human right?

thanks

AJD

Not really. The Cancer Act for example, is in place for a very good reason, as is the Trade Descriptions Act.

You must really hate this upcoming piece of legislation:

Unfair Commercial Practices Directive - BERR

In my opinion, it is right that this field is tightly regulated as selling products to people on the basis of supposed 'health benefits' is a serious crime. For example, I don't want people going round saying 'this pill cures/helps with x' - when it doesn't do anything of the sort.

AJD has a point. The legislation introduced by the EU in this particular instance has drastically reduced the choice of natural supplements available to those who which to use them. Small independent health food businesses are struggling; some have already gone under. The cost of conforming to the legislation is such that only the very large companies can afford it. Smaller companies had to pass the costs on to the consumer and some have essentially priced themselves out of business.

The UK legislation in this area was already very tough; there are products freely on sale in the USA which could not be sold over here under UK legislation. We didn't need the extra hassle of conforming to EU legislation with the associated inevitable gold-plating imposed by the UK.
