Biggest brain drain from UK in 50 years - Telegraph
Just think how much worse it would get if the Americans elected Ron Paul as president. |

I love this country dearly, but so many new restrictions are coming in that even I wonder whether I want to stay in our brave new world.

Also with the 'Brain Drain' is the 'Skill Kill'.
Many talented and experienced individuals who may not be PhD level scientists etc but are in the police, military as well as plumbers and mechanics are leaving too. Again, they're quality and skills can be transferred to most countries with similar make-ups such as Australia, Canada and New Zealand, as well as the USA. US taxes are not high and you even get to do your own taxes each year which means you keep all of your money each month then send in your tax return at the end of the year with a check and 75% get a rebate sent back to them asap.
If you go to the US go to a state that does not make you pay state income taxes, like Florida. Everyone in Florida pays a state puchase tax of 6%,that means those who work, are retired or dont work pay a tax on what they buy,its very good and you dont even notice it. Those state purchase taxes pay for some great benefits and facilities too. |

It's because America is friendly towards people with a brain, in the UK it is the reverse and you are despised for it and plus there are just not the jobs. In America, if you have a brain you will get a well paid job to compensate for the years of time you have invested in your field of interest, in the UK you will be penalised for it and see totally unskilled people earn considerably more than you just because they are brainwashed to follow orders. People with ideas in the civil service are apparently labelled as troublemakers and will not progress up the career path. Not that I have done such a job myself but I do speak to a few that do and the usual comment is something along the lines that "I was lucky enough to get out while I still had a brain". It's so sad but the UK has alienated so many people and I speak to UK people working in America doing really well financially but they still feel like they are missing their home and would wish to return if they could do, but circumstances make it difficult.

Actually, they are. Federal taxes are 35% top rate, which is what I'd call high (anything above 20% top rate is unnecessary for a civilised society to operate). Then there's property (council) tax, which is basically extortion - we'd be talking $70,000 per year on something which would set you back £5,000 here.
And, of course, I'm not comparing income tax to here. I'm comparing it to elsewhere. The socialist mindset has taken the US. They just don't know it yet.

The states have had Labor-lefty "Blair clones" in charge for years, so if there's any resultant damage it's probably already done.

JC,how do you come to think that 35% top rate Fed tax in the US is high? If your not comparing income tax to the UK can you say exactly where you are comparing it to? Whats the top rate in this country, thats what we need to look at isnt it? Most Americans pay 20% and get a refund or bonus for returning on time. The $70,000-00 property tax you have quoted needs to show your formula for arriving at that figure, stating that its compared to £5,000-00 here is absolutely rediculous.Show us the figures. How long did you live in the US for? |
