Arrow If there was a referendum to leave the EU, and we lost...

If there was a referendum given to the British people on the In/Out question, and we lost (ie. the British people voted to say in, say, by a majority of over 55%, or even 60%).

What would/should our course of action be?

Pack your bags and leave the fools to endure every minute of the statist hell they deserve.

Good advice. Trouble is, the rest of the world isn't too keen on taking political migrants! We're a group trapped right between refugees and economic migrants: we belong to neither and as such command the privileges of neither.

Default EU, referendum, pro-sovereignty, anti-EU, parties, trade unions, BBC, referendum

The fight would go on against the EU if an "in or out" referendum were lost by sovereigntists (i.e. if the anti-EU side did not win). It would be difficult for the pro-sovereignty (i.e. anti-EU) side to be heard fairly in a referendum campaign in our country because so many in the 'main' political parties (plus most of those in the trade unions, BBC and national press) are pro-EU. If we lost a referendum on quitting the EU (possibly narrowly), it could be down to the fact that millions of voters have not heard the truth about the EU because the europhiles (many in powerful positions in the political parties and media) have been (and remain) determined (indeed desperate) that they don't.

If we won a referendum and quit the EU, the europhiles in the UK would be campaigning for and working to try to get the UK back in the EU. So we must continue to campaign against UK membership of the EU should we lose an 'in our out' referendum.

The campaign to recover our lost sovereignty is a permanent one. Because once we are out of the EU we must oppose those in the UK who will try to reverse the decision of the UK to leave the EU.

Incidentally, I think we can win an 'in or out of the EU' referendum. The more the British public are made aware of the powers that the EU has; of the cost of it to each person in the UK and the fact that the EU is becoming a european superstate - the more chance we have of getting people to vote against the UK being in the EU.

At this time, our priority should be to get a retrospective referendum held on the EU Constitution Brown has just signed in Lisbon (i.e. EU 'Amending' Treaty).

I would be stuck here. Law is quite a nationally specific field. I would continue to try and change as many minds as I could though.

Toronto. My sister has just sold her house in the U.K. and is getting the hell out. My Mum and Dad will follow in 2 years. They join my aunt and multiple cousins.

I am thinking about buying a couple of hundred acres of land out there now, ready for when the time comes.
