Just to answer for myself! I have never had any fear of dying,nor have those christians I mix with. I'm 54 now, became a christian at the age of 20

The point remains, whether you believe it or not has no bearing upon its truth. So far prayer has never been proven.

it is not for me to speak for other peoples beleifs Smidgey I can only say what I have experienced.

I pray Girls Aloud will knock on my door and invite me to a party, but it never happens.

That may just mean God, Buddha, Allah, Krishna, Lucifer or whoever else might be running the show doesn't think it is a worthwhile prayer though.

Or perhaps they just ignore me because I don't address the right one.

Right, and I am saying I am sceptical, following the same reasoning of David Hume's 'On Miracles' or W.K. Clifford's 'The Ethics of Belief'.
