Now that would be neat - owning a piece of one of the greatest composers!

I always thought what Beethoven would think of his most famous work being used as the EU national anthem.

What Ode to Joy is supposed to mean and what it stands for seem completely opposed to what the EU stands for. It makes me quite angry to see the EU bastardise such a beautiful piece of music that doesn't even seem to be appropriate for their use. Maybe they should use the old soviet anthem and just change some of the words!

Given what he thought about Napoleon and what he did to the 3rd symphony I would imagine that he would be highly pi55ed off

I agree, Smidgey. It is quite wrong of the EU to use Beethoven's great music as their Anthem. What an insult to him.
