Default UKIP members move to the English Democrats

We are starting to see a really significant increase in good UKIP members deciding to join the English Democrats so that they can oppose the EU more effectively in this new, democratic and well run party.

These former UKIP members joining the English Democrats live in England and are saying that if Labour's botched devolution laws are not going to be repealed, then it is only fair that England should have her own Parliament.

The new UKIP members are very welcome in the English Democrats and they are steadily building up the party's lists of national officers, local chairmen and candidates. We still have posts to be filled for some county chairmen, for many parliamentary candidates and a few for the London Assembly.

Together we will campaign under English colours and provide effective opposition to the pro-EU parties and the anti-democratic BBC.

Just how new is this party? This is what Wikipedia says:

Quote:
In 1997, and in response to calls for the devolution of power to Scotland and Wales, Robin Tilbrook formed the English National Party, with the aim of reforming the defunct English National Party which had been founded in the 1960s, but had ceased operating as a party by 1981...

The party was relaunched as the English Democrats Party in September 2002, after merging with several other smaller political parties. In October 2004, the party merged with the Reform UK Party, which was a small splinter group from the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP). The New England Party merged with the English Democrats in February 2007.
Formed 1997, renamed 2002. Not so new after all then?

Isn't it convenient that the EDs no longer give details of membership numbers.

We can no longer gauge the veracity of any claim of an increase.
I expect very few UKIPPERS have deserted directly.

Pull the other one - it's got bells on it.

How many members have switched from UKIP to the EDs in the last three months?

Anthony

Thanks for the enquiry. I do not have the figures to hand, but I will ask and revert by the end of next weekend. The English Democrats have their monthly NC meeting next Saturday so I can always check out then and come back with an approximate figure.

I do not intentionally mislead or lie - even in politics! You may be surprised at how many of our new members have a UKIP background.

I posted the three names because I didn't have to do any checks on individaul members. I have asked for the names of others who have a UKIP background and (if it is of any interest) will revert.
