Comparing policy country by country is interesting!

Arrest someone because they've smoked a joint? Get a grip for Christs sake and do something more worthwhile instead of getting on the moral high ground because you drink a glass of wine instead, or even worse you're one of those t-total bores.

I detest most people in government positions and would happily line them up against a wall and shoot the lot of them but smoking a joint wouldn't be the reason for it.

In case you hadn't noticed, possession of Cannabis is against the law. Ergo, it should be prosecuted.

I fully support prosecuting people for having Cannabis. After all, by pursuing the Broken Windows theory of policing (zero tolerance for 'minor' crime) New York City managed to drastically cut the crime rate.

If the Police selectively enforce certain laws, you're inviting people to break them which can only lead to more crime and disorder.

Yes but not all laws are just, some laws made by self serving governments are of little concern to me. Puff heads pose no threat sitting on the sofa eating a packet of Munchies - drunks coming out of pubs and clubs smashing up cars and phone boxes and beating people up do costing the tax payer a fortune in police time, repairs and the NHS not to mention family breakdown. No one has ever died smoking cannabis whereas hundreds of thousands have died through alcohol related illnesses. I hear the government cannot patent the hemp plant

The police frequently selectively enforce laws whenever it suits them, where do you get this idea they play fair and by the rules? The police are some of the most bent people in society, something they have in common with politicians. Both could start enforcing the law by deporting every illegal immigrant in this country and they could also prosecute all the child molesters in their ranks too. Did you know that half the drugs the police seize from people end up back on the streets to be resold? Yes, the police are drug dealers too!

Sure, cannabis users might not go out and commit criminal damage etc, but it is responsible for things such as this:

"What is largely unseen are our psychiatric hospitals full of people whose illnesses have been triggered by cannabis"

Short-term effects (of smoking cannabis) are increased pulse rate, decreased blood pressure, bloodshot eyes, heightened appetite and dizziness
In the longer term, smoking it can lead to lung damage, paranoia and mental health problems

Don't fall for the propaganda, there is no proof that smoking cannabis causes mental illness, it has been argued that those in mental institutions would have ended up there anyway regardless of whether they smoked cannabis. There are far more mentally ill people out there that have never taken street drugs than have, explain that one! GP's are the biggest drug dealers of the lot dishing out drugs from the big pharma companies, they make about 100k a year don't they? Pharmaceutical drugs also kill more people than they cure but hey, they make a good profit.

Done by a liberty-hating transvestite...

I would rather have the current crime rate than have to have Guiliani as my 'leader'.

New York is almost bordering on democratic fascism.

On Topic: The drug war needs to ended and the sooner the better.

I'm curious, you object to zero-tolerance policing? Big fan of littering, graffiti and criminal damage are you?
