On reflection - what is the difference between a 'Quick Reply' and a reply?

You don't have to click on 'reply' or 'quote' and you can't easily quote a message. Plus it doesn't have the formatting extras.

And this is what multi-quote is for.

All I did for this is hit the multi-quote button in the above two posts then hit "post reply".

'Quick reply' seems to me to be adding clutter for little purpose - creating a solution to a problem that didn't exist.
