Breakfast TV this morning featured some couple bleating pathetically about their wish to enjoy free IVF treatment on the NHS.
This kind of thing utterly infuriates me. The NHS should exist to serve people who are ill, many of them dangerously ill. The sheer selfishness of people who think funds should be diverted to serve their procreation fantasies is utterly appalling, but what makes me really angry is that nobody dares to state the sane point of view on air. If these people want a baby they should pay for it themselves or enlist the assistance of some like-minded charity (although whether such an organisation should receive charitable status is another valid question) In a lot of these cases of infertility the women have brought it on themselves with the Pill and other 'substances'. Anyway, many of them defer having a child for far too long. Apparently they believe they can "have it all". It's time to tell them they can't - not at my expense anyway. My mother was treated by the hospital as a "geriatric mum" when I was born. She was 33. |

Quite
Some "Blair Babe" (Blair Bimbo more like) was just on waffling about this matter which has apparently been brought up by a "Tory" with the unbelievable name of Grant Shapps. However she pointed out that much infertility is caused by Chlamydia, which is a sexually transmitted disease. So we can blame permissiveness/promiscuity for this "problem". No surprise there. |
