Disgusting. Most Britons would be against this I believe.

While it sickens me, I would like to understand the real reason it sickens other people.

Is it the fact they are dolphins, which are very intelligent and friendly creatures? IE should dolphins get special treatment over say a cow.

Or is it the manner of the killing?

Or a combination of things?

It disgusts me because the dolphins are mans' best friend according to many. There are examples of dolphins helping stranded people to safety, for instance.

Man should not kill such a pro-human creature.

The manner of their killing is also bad.

And I just don't see them as a 'food animal'.

They are also an attractive sea creature - fun to watch.

I don't think that this killing of dolphins by the Japanese is doing much to enhance the image of their nation in the eyes of the world.

Isn't that imposing morality, what is a "food animal"? Is an animal worth saving for being "fun to watch"?

Dolphins are highly intelligent, I challenge you to find a cow or a pig on a similar level of intelligence.

Dolphins exhibit human like behaviour they have been recorded killing porpoises and other species and not for food.

Maybe the representation in the Simpson's was on the right track
