SGK is just starting out

It is surely a question that relates to our own civility, rather than the animal. If we consider ourselves to have developed to a level where we no longer feel the need to inflict suffering on another living being - debatable whether we have, I know - then why would we not make every effort to follow that through, even if we acknowledge that we are meat eaters?
The more intelligent a creature is, the more likely it is to be aware of what is being done, the more distress it is likely to suffer. Why do we continue to put animals through this if it is unnecessary and we are above it? Or aren't we?
Do we really still need to kill for fur? Do we really still need to kill dolphins and whales? Do we really still need to cull by clubbing or other distressing methods? Do we really still need to eat veal, or other questionable foods? Do we really still need to carry out tests and torture animals, especially such intelligent creatures as monkeys?

Yeah, but that's your set of priorities and principles. Some people think cows are sacred and therefore would probably like to ban us from having beef etc.

Where do you draw the line. Whose opinion is worth more than the others?

Some vegans will tell us all animals shouldn't be killed, period, same for Buddists.

Default Dolphin killing in Japan

I can see what you are saying but the dolphin is extremely intelligent and a great friend to man.

It cannot be compared to a cow in my view.

The Japanese are damaging their international reputation by allowing the slaughter of dolphins. As are any other countries which allow the killing of these wonderful creatures.

That's the problem, it's your view against a Japanese mans view. He probably couldn't care less, because they are quite a closed country.

All you can do is boycott Japanese products, or hope for one world fascist government that will impose you view on them. More likely is your view will be crushed in many other areas instead.

Boycott them. It's the only real option open to you.
