Default Ian Richardson

Just thought I would mention Ian Richardson who played the wickedly funny Francis Urqaurt in House of Cards in the early 1990s died in his sleep at the age of 72.

I loved his character so much and still have the story and its two sequels at home on video.

No Prime Minster could have been that wicked. Well you might say that but I could not possibly comment!

Default The Late Ian Richardson

He was good in the role.

Maybe Blair watched it and learnt some tricks.

Thank you for posting that news rjt.

I agree with your comments about his role as Urquhart. If you recall, the series first showed at the time of the leadership crisis in the Conservative party which led to Margaret Thatcher's downfall and thus it seemed remarkably prescient at the time.

He appeared in many things, memorably Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and was a fine actor all round.

Yes thanks for reminding me about the timing of House of Cards.

The actor Micheal Kitchen did a wonderfull take on prince Charles in the sequel To Play the King a few years later where an enviromentaly concious king with distinct socialist tendencys was forced into abdication when he came into conflict with the elected governement

Quite a few people felt it was a sitiaution that could happen although I have my doubts.

Default A Tale of Two Deaths

Maybe the excellent Mr Richardson would respond to this news in the true political ambiguity of the Machiavellian Urquhart: "You may very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment"
