Default British Telecom introduces new surcharge on its bills

British Telecom is to surcharge customers £6 who pay by their bills with a cheque or in cash (reports today's Daily Telegraph)  :

I threw BT out 2 years ago as they are unable to run a company. They owed me £32 and I am still waiting for it. I would recomend anyone using their services to change . I have never heard of a company wanting me to pay extra when I want to pay their bill!

The big companies are definitely starting to push for the cashless society. Every payment tracked, traced and no anonymous transactions allowed.

That is the kind of control any fascist government would relish.

Daylight robbery. What's the excuse?

I'd switch to cable if we could get it, but we can't - so BT stays.

Branches of Morrisons within the London OM25 Orbital area don't accept cheque payments any more. Cash or credit card only.

Have you complained to Ofcom, the telephone regulator?

No I have not. I have thought about it and made a few enquiries but the impression I got was one of banging your head against a brick wall.
I wonder, has anyone on the forum any experience of Ofcom?

In my experience, anything with a "com" at the end of it (except an Internet URL) is chocolate fireguard.

Cheques I couldn't care less about,. If they stop using cash, then I will have to take my business elsewhere (even if I do tend to use cards at the moment.)
