Default So now the EU wants to tell you how to drive...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/6334327.stm

Quote:
The European Commission is proposing to force carmakers to make an 18% cut in CO2 emissions from new cars by 2012.

...

Increased use of biofuels, better tyres and measures to ensure drivers change gear at the right time would help to save the extra 10g/km.
Traffic warden sitting next to you every time you go out for a drive? If you miss the gear change or, Heaven forbid, hold the gear because you're a bit of a petrolhead who likes the sound of engines, you get six months in the clink?

(Wasn't sure where to put this. It's EU fascism, environazis, Vogons and police state all rolled into one. So it's here.)

**** me!

Sorry but i could not think of any other words to say!

I think i will give up on life. I will live in a tent so i don't have council tax inspectors entering my house, i will live as a hermit not going anywhere so i am not tracked by satellite or monitored on my driving. I will not go abroad so i don't have to get biometric passports and i will not start a business so i don't have to deal with EU red tape. I will not speak my mind in case i am arrested by the thought police. I will not help a neighbour in case i am taken to court. I will not confront thugs in case i am knifed.

Anybody elese now getting just so fed up that they could easily take to civil unrest?

Judging by the letter bomb sent yesterday to the to the operators of Red Ken's  congestion charge I think that you may have to form a queue.

I don't think they're planning to make changing gear at the wrong time a criminal offence... this is presumably some piece of inbuilt technology that stops engines being over-revved.

I was joking.

I take it to be some kind of indicator to tell you when to change or worse, no more manual transmissions.

F1 cars already have that.
And, as it happens, many road cars already have a rev limiter.

So, they're not on about rev limiters then - otherwise it'd hardly be worth mentioning, would it?

Its just the type of waffle that politicos say.

When we hauliers were complaining about the price of fuel viz-a-viz the price on the continent,we were given stupid advice such as Choose the Most Economical Route. AS though we would go from London to Glasgow via Bristol .

You might. The fact that you don't is clearly because the government has advised you.

Don't forget that you, as part of the sheeple, have no ability to think for yourself.
