I think Amin Al Husseini was unusual back then, but his ideas are now mainstream in the Middle East.

I read somewhere that in the Middle East Muslim cartoons, depicting rats in skullcaps, were copied from Nazi originals. I f I remember rightly, it was in an article responding to the Muslim protests over the danish cartoons(which actually caricatured a lot of religious figureheads).

Amin al-Husseini was held under 'house' arrest in a Beirut hotel by the French. He disguised himself as a woman, put on a veil and escaped to join Hitler. He encouraged Bosnian Muslims to fight for Hitler and was in Berlin at the fall. Even in the 1940s men would hide behind veils to escape.

Much of Amin's politics were forced by disagreements with the Nashashibi clan who with the al-Husseinis vied for control of Palestinian opinion.

Interestingly thousands of Indian Muslims were at Nuremberg. Indians opposed to British rule ultimately joined the Japanese Indian Fighters (JIFs) which were organised by Bose a former pupil of St Paul's.

The main reason of course was anti-semitism. Himmler also referred to Islam as a very practical religion for a soldier, and instigated the SS "Handschar" Division subsequently.

Now we have the strange if not obnoxious spectacle of Trotskyites marching with Islamic Fundamentalists, in fact anyone they can join in with to "rebel" against. These pathetic lefties would really love to live under Sharia law (or rather not) and they will probably do so eventually. At least then when they start protesting they will learn what its like to live under a brutal tyrannical dictatorship.

Radical Islam is the same as radical anything. The trick is not making it the dominant strand of Islam, which is what a lot of people here seem to actually want.

I don't think most people would say that the majority of Muslims welcome violence and would also agree that the militants of the 7/7 variety are a minority but they are a substantial minority. Secondly the issue with Islam is that it is a religion and movement that is colonizing and determined to install itself wherever it gains a foothold. Unlike Judaism, Sikkhism, Buddhism and Hinduism it sees itself as the correct and dominating way of life that must convert and colonize. In that it should not be underestimated and also respected. The mainstream politicians and new order apparatchiks sneered and laughed when the Iraqi army was annihilated in the conventional war of 2003, but look at what's happening now. They are strong because they are dedicated and determined. They are grounding the West down in Iraq and Afghanistan and the second front is the Islamification of Europe. Two million now in Britain, with many people and organizations if they are not fawning all over them are terrified of upsetting them. It is a clash of civilzations and we ignore it at our peril.
