Welcome back.
Can you tell us what your teachers' criticisms of UKIP were?

Is your teacher a Middle Class Socialist by any chance?
I have ran into quite a few of this sort through school, college and university.

How to shut them up:

Do you want to lose your jobs to Eastern Europeans?
Do you want to be paid in increasingly worthless Euros?
Do you want to teach metric nits only, not using the Imperial units you now and love?

Just an observation..........
Getting the spelling correct is rather important if you want your banner to be taken seriously.

No apology needed. Nor expected.
My comment was meant to be constructive.

I am an old guy. My next milestone or millstone will be 70.
At school I learned Imperial. I went on to take an engineering degree. Like most engineers these days, I generally use metric.
Metric or SI makes many calculations so much simpler. And, apart from a few old colonies, it has global acceptance.
That said, I am not advocating that we lose Imperial.
If a market trader like Steve Thorburn has customers who want to buy bananas by the pound he should be allowed to sell them by the pound.

I don't recall any use of Imperial units during my school days which were not so many years ago. Even so I know my height in feet & inches and my weight in stone & pounds. And my clothing sizes only in inches. The EU & by consent the British state have decided that use of these weights & measures will be criminalised in a few brief years. And unlike with decimilisation the state are highly unlikely to provide any help to the people upon this changeover because it is another pure takeover by Brussels that Westminster doesn't currently even pretend to be in favour of.
