Default BBC 9/11

I'm not ashamed to admit that i cried tonight watching the BBC docudrama.

What annoys me was the statement at the end from the chairman of the post 9/11 committee:-

They made 41 recommendations, some of which have been partially implimented, most have been ignored.

There were tears in my eyes in parts of that show. But those emotions must give us the strength to oppose those who wish to take our existing freedoms away from us. Blair/Bush etc have rewarded those terrorists enough. Yet Blair and Co. want to reward them even more. Regarding the recommendations not implemented. I don't know what they are. Perhaps someone will let us know. I suspect some of them will be of the handing the terrorists a massive victory variety. Kinda like severe restrictions on hand luggage on aircraft and no liquids on aircraft going to USA despite the same type plot being exposed 10 years ago without that response.

Let me try to understand.

Are you saying the way to to fight terrorists is to ease the restrictions on hand luggage and liquids because that's just passe??

You can't stop terrorism, especially when they are willing to give over their lives.

You lock down one area of life for everyone, then they move on to another.

You could stop everyone from flying period, they would just attack trains or boats instead.

You could lock down all travel, they would attack sports stadiums, or schools, or shopping centres instead.

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO COMPLETLEY STOP TERRORISM.

So you have to work at not giving people the cause to commit it.

That's why the world is now spiraling out of control. The causes aren't being addressed, only knee jerk, freedom busting, innocent killing measures are being put in place.

Keep it up and you will have more terrorists, fighting for their own causes and freedoms.

Hi Everybody,
Why do people refer to the atrocity of the Twin Towers ( perputrated by Bush and Co. ) as 9/11 ? In MY country ( England ), September 11th is written as 11/9 , or have I missed something ?

Nobody enjoys a bonkers conspiracy theory more than I do, but given that Al-Qaida have several times admitted that they did it, and given that Al-Qaida have just released a video which as well as footage on Bin Laden also incldes a farewell sequence from two of the hijackers:

http://english.ohmynews.com/articlev...16194&rel_no=1

surely we can definitively clear Bush of planning this particular atrocity.

Not that Bush isn't guilty of plenty of more recent ones!

Because WE get to call it what we wish, as it happened to US.

In the U.S. we usually note the date, "month/day/year."

By the way, it's, "PERPETRATED."

All KINDS of things are being done in every way of fighting and preventing it, things we can't easily imagine. But I think it's safe to say we will probably be fighting this war the rest of our lives and maybe longer.

The idea of being afraid to kill those who want us dead because of a fear that will spawn more terrorists is a theory the jihadists want us to buy into. But using that rationale Japan wouldn't be an ally of the West. Germany would never have become what it is.

The US and UK would never have made up and become friendly.
