Because WE get to call it what we wish, as it happened to US.

In the U.S. we usually note the date, "month/day/year."

By the way, it's, "PERPETRATED."

By the way Blondy,FYI,It is considered as extremely bad manners to point out a fellow posters error in spelling and/or grammar.

However, should you choose to disregard this info',you will be constantly open to the same treatment as you have afforded the poster who you have tried to castigate here.(ref "PERPETRATED).

With regard to writing the date, you need to pay more attention when copying your works FROM OUR LANGUAGE.

Also, while I am on the rant, can I just say that the constant underhand practice of America having it's own flagpole at least one inch taller than that of its guest's is childish and only demonstrates the inferiorority of your Leaders, past and present.

In God we trust, but,we can no longer trust in America, you have worn out your welcome throughout this particular World.

I do wish you all well in the next one tho.

Default Day comes before month number

I also get fed up with the incorrect date given for the terrorist attack on the World Trade Towers and Washington D.C.

It is not 9/11. It is 11.9.2001.

I remember my first electronic watch (a present) made by Texas Instruments. A fine watch is was too - except that, being made in America, it gave the date the wrong way around (i.e. the month number first) .

The spellcheck on Microsoft is, of course, also set up to American (i.e incorrect) spelling  .

I also refuse to use terms such as "LA" or "24/7". They are not English and do not belong in our language.

Of couse you are correct in what you have said about what I shall call the American bastardisation of most that is English/British.

However,we must try to "cut them a bit of slack"because they are quite young and relatively ignorant to the ways of the civilised world.

I will say though, that, they are admirable for their progress from the day they overthrew their British Lawfull establishment in the days of yore.

Had the fact been different in that we in this country were not already fighting a couple of wars against the Span(n)ish,French,Portugese or even Italians, I think they would of got their arses well and trully kicked by us.

Anyway, myself, not being one to close their eyes to opportunism, still wish them luck and hope that they are not so cowardly usurped from within as we in the Mother Country were by them all those years ago.

Just a way of helping the chap. In America we believe in self improvement. I guess that's a concept that hasn't reached you blokes.

And I will thank whoever correctly helps me achieve greater accuracy and precision in communicating unless I believe it is being used as a veiled means of attack.

Well, if that means changing the way I spell, "perpetrated" then you can forget it.

Your obvious attempts to bait me with patriotic challenges and blatant misspellings are cute and much appreciated but I must beg off. Seems there's an ass which needs to be put in my boot.

We're going to a drive-in movie and to save on the ticket for my brother he's going to hide in the trunk.

Unless he just refuses to hide back there. In which case I might have to put my boot up his ass!

Close your eyes. Or, better yet, get off your duff and get your British lawmakers to create a law which makes writing in YOUR STYLE mandatory for all products sold there.

Oh, you mean it's not THAT bothersome?

Ok. I get it. You just wanted to make me smile.

Hi blondy,
Sorry for the confusion. I didn't realise that you were from the USA. You are entitled to refer to the Twin Towers atrocities as 9/11.
BTW., I would love to visit your Country. I am a fanatical birdwatcher and we occassionally get vagrants from N. America ,such as the American Robin, Ovenbird and Red-Eyed Vireo.
