Default Investigating the 'death metal' murders

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programme...ld/4446342.stm

Quote:
Deicide sing about the occult, their most popular anthem being Kill the Christians.

Other death metal bands appear to glorify murder, torture, rape and necrophilia.

Benton is no stranger to controversy - several murders have been linked to his fans - but denies that any singer can be responsible for the actions of their fans.

"I say don't blame people like me and [Marilyn] Manson, because we never said: 'Hey, we're going to be role models for all your kids.' That ain't what this is about. It's about entertainment."
I wonder where this will all sits within the law. For me, telling people to kill Christians is incitement to murder. If Muslim preachers are going down for it, so should these guys.

Actualy there is often sentiment within the songs, and most often meaning behind the words, the trouble with alot of death metal is you havnt got a clue what they are singing without a the CD booklet lol.

i think censoring music is a bad idea, its one of the few free art forms left,

at the end of the day week willed people will be led astray by one form or another, and if there INTO phpbb_death metal im sure there not the type of kids that are in the mood to let god INTO phpbb_there heart lol.

i am a metal head and to be honest with the tradgeties in my life ive found much of the works i listen to, actualy help me come to terms with pent up feelings inside.

Do songs actually make people go out and murder folk or is it that people who go out and murder folk are more inclined to listen to loud music with fast beats and screaming singers?

No offence to anyone who actually likes certain genres of music but some people are attracted to the music who have already predisposed themselves to a certain path. Another way of looking at it would be that was it the music or the killer?

Did the book Catcher in the Rye actually murder John Lennon or was it Mark Chapman?

Books or music or other outside forces don't' make people do things, if you wrote a song saying "beat Kilroy with a large haddock and someone did it, you would not be responsible, people are supposed to have self control, if they don't' have that then it's no good pushing the blame further and further away from the perpetrator, it is the individual's decision to either do something or not. End of story.

I believe they can. After all, folks like the KKK and Fred Phelps can do their stuff.

See that's where I think the yanks have got it wrong.

Britain used to have it right, with it's incitement to cause criminal acts laws. This disgusting government, on the orders of their EU puppet masters have ruined all that though, by over complicating things, by adding laws that are redundant or plain wrong.

Dodgy ground if you ask me. One the one hand we have to ensure that those who are actually inciting a crime are caught, but on the other we have to make sure that folks have as free a speech as possible. Who gets to decide what's what?

The law decides. If you tell people to hurt or kill other people, who don't want to be hurt, then you get punished.

I haven't worked out the scale of punishments yet.

Britain already has these laws.

So then, does Rainbow's song "Kill The King" (a fantasy lyric) automatically become punishable when Charlie takes the reins?

Quote:
Danger, danger the queen痴 about to kill
There痴 a stranger, stranger and life about to spill
Oh no, move me out of harm
I need a spell and a charm
Fly like the wind
I知 no pawn, so be gone, speed on and on
Kill the king
Tear him down
Kill the king
Strike him down

Power, power it happens every day
Power, devour all along the way
Oh no, move me out of harm
I need a spell and a charm
Fly like the wind
I知 no pawn, so be gone, speed on and on
Kill the king

Treason, treason, the specter looms again
Treason, treason, the realm is safe and then
Oh no, move me out of harm
I need a spell and a charm
Fly like the rainbow
I知 no pawn, so be gone, speed on and on

Kill the king
Tear him down
Kill the king
Got to take his crown

Kill the king
He値l rule no more
Strike him dead

He値l rule no more
Strike him dead
The people roar
Kill the king
Take his head
Down, down, down, down
Oh, kill
Oh, kill
Oh, oh
