Right. Check his email is legit (easiest way to do this is to contact him to tell him you're interested via a throwaway address which you just got from Hotmail/Yahoo). Then make some posts to the usenet "girly" binaries groups with his address in your reply-to field.

I'll do it for you if you check his address is legit.

The address will be legit so that he can draw the punters in - how the scam works is one of two ways

1) You are asked to send your bank details etc they then empty your bank account, wait a few weeks and then try to empty it again.

2) they tell you the funds are about to be transferred but last minute glitch and they need to bung a minister $10k and ask you to senfd the money because all of theirs is already in the bankers draft on its way to you.

One German guy was even persuaded to travel to Lagos with the bribe so he could hand it over himself - they took his dosh and then held him to ransom.

Its been doing the rounds for twenty years and still catches people out.

I've reported it to the FSA and yahoo and for good measure sent him 800 replies from a yahoo account I just opened.

Before Aol put a restriction on the number of addresses you can send to in one e-mail - supposedly to cut down on spam - i jammed one guys box with 50,000 e-mails!!! He wasn't happy at all.

Forgive me for being stupid here, but how do they do that? Surely bank security should prevent that?

This works with companies - they ask for two copies of your letterhead - to make out dummy invoices so that they can send you the money - once they have the paper they write a letter from you to your bank instructing payment of 'x- amount .

Then a few weeks later when you have put money back INTO phpbb_your account they hit it again.

It works in Nigeria.

You would think that a firewall would be put around Nigeria and it be banned from the internet so the country could go back online once they have sorted out their own affairs.
