Every party canvasses every house to identify Lib/Lab/Con/Undecided voters
Theis campaign is then aimed at their core supporters to Get Out The Vote (GOTV) The tellesr at polling station feed a constant list of those that vote to their campaign HQ. About 5pm they begin to 'knock up' those supporters that have not yet voted. You gain supporters by being active locally, by being seen to be campaigning on local issues, by having press releases printed, letter printed, by issuing newsletters. With time effort and campaigning you will take control of an area ward by ward. If you sit and do nothing you will deserve to get 5% of the vote. The key to General Election success will be local election success - the target of UKIP should be taking control of the town halls up and down the country. The aim over the next 3 or 4 years should be getting councillors elected. Local election success will result in General Election votes. |

I have formed the local Neighbourhood Watch scheme, joined local NHS trust, joined local residents association. Ask questions at local council meetings. Campaigned and succeded to get a Zebra crossing built, 20 mph zone around school, waste bins installed, dog wast bins installed etc etc etc.... Things all good UKIP local election candidates should be doing locally to build up local credibility.
Was LibDem activist - over 200 press releases printed - similar number of letters - organised LibDem campaigns - turned Labour/Tory wards INTO phpbb_LibDem wards - increased general election results over 3 general elections from last party to 2nd party with small opposition majority. Genral Election success comes from strong local council campaigning. |

We've entered the era of negative voting (i.e. tactical voting for anyone but the party you don't want in). The only way to combat it is to use that negative voting for gain. Think "none of the above", Brewster's Millions.
