Default Ashley Mote in Private Eye

From Private Eye:
Quote:
Eurosceptic MEP Ashley Mote looked isolated when he was suspended by
UKIP, but his website suggests he still has some friends.

According to Mote's internet diary, he spoke at the Durham Union
Society, Durham University's version of the Oxford Union, on the
motion: "This House believes there is no such thing as Britishness." on
25th February. Which is strange, because the debate was actually
scheduled for March, and the Durham Union told Private Eye that Ashley
Mote was not one of the speakers: Dr. Julie Smith, Keith Robbins, Sir
Bernard Crick and Piers Merchant were invited, but not Mote.

Mote's website also said he would be addressing meetings in Boston,
Lincolnshire, and Skegness in February, but EU Parliament records show
he was in Brussels asking questions about banknotes and driving
licenses on those days.Private Eye asked Mote to explain the
discrepancy, but he did not reply.

The confusion about Mote's whereabouts might have upset Eurosceptics
keen to hear his words. But it also caused difficulty for his former
research assistant, Paul Wesson, who wanted to track Mote down and
serve him papers claiming unpaid wages.

Ashley Mote is alive and well, as is due process regarding the allegations of housing fraud.

There's a two line entry in the plenary session minutes of 23 February 2005 which mentions Mr. Mote:

http://www2.europarl.eu.int/registre...)02-23_EN.html

Interestingly enough, when this was reported in The Times on 24 February 2005, and put up on the Times website, the website copy was pulled within 48 hours, due to Mr. Mote's existing injunction against negative press coverage. You might be able to get a copy of the article from a large library, though.

However, the court injunction against negative press (which could be prejudicial to his case) doesn't seem to stop Mr. Mote from getting his letters published, and he's happy to allow friendly articles mentioning his name (Sunday's Christopher Booker Notebook in the Telegraph springs to mind) so at least the eventual jury will be unbiased in his favour.

What exactly is AM playing at?

If PEye can catch him out by using his own website against him and his research assistant remains unpaid how is he helping himself?

Rumour has it that a quick check of Company House will show that his company, Franklin Estates Wines (UK) Ltd, has been put INTO phpbb_compulsory liquidation by the Official Receiver? Anybody know anything else?
