Mr minister.

A few comments about your booklet "EU constitution guide"

I am a British citizen not a European citizen. I do not want to be a European citizen and ruled by Europe. I have never been asked, and if I were to be asked, the answer would be "NO".

The MP's that are supposed to run this country, are failing the British public who's interest they are elected to look after.

Please can you explain, how can non-elected citizens of a foreign country tell the Elected people of the United Kingdom what to do?

I am not the only citizen of the United Kingdom who feels the same way and as soon as the date of the British general election has passed you will find out how many British citizens agree with me.

Select, copy, paste and send:

Any other suggestions to add?

I have sent my own version, asking why the British govenment are spending my tax on a totally one sided campaign for the EU. I made it clear that I believed Britain had already given away too much without the express permission of it's people. I made it clear I have read INTO phpbb_the subject in great detail and come to the conclusion that not only would it be bad for Britain to go any further, but mad not to withdraw and take control of are own affairs again.

Well Ive had a Reply:

Quote:
Dear Mr OOPS

Thank you for your email of 11 January regarding the Guide to the EU.

In your email you raise the issue of decision making. Since joining the EU, successive British governments have recognised that it was in the UK's interest for a range of decisions to be taken by vote, but that in those circumstances the majority required should be significantly greater than the simple majority used in the British Parliament and local authorities. This system of special majorities was established in the Treaty of Rome and is known as qualifies majority voting (QMV). The UK has always insisted that certain key UK national interests could only be protected by the requirement of unanimity, so that the UK would maintain a veto in in these areas. The government was successful in delivering this position during the negotiations on the EU Constitutional Treaty.

In regards to government spending, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office does explain the costs and obligations, as well as the benefits, of EU membership in its publications, and we have done this in the Guide to the EU. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is committed to communicating accurately and objectively the facts about Britain's EU membership to the public.

I hope this information is useful.

Yours sincerely

Parul Ram
Europe Directorate

Well I now Know it was in the UK's interest :? :?

Being a simpleton :?

I leave it to you PPC's to pick the bones out of that :!:
