Default Macafee firewall

I use the macafee firewall program and this morning checked the log, in half an hour on line there where 775 attempts to gain acess to my machine, over 6,000 in the last week and since i installed the firewall four or five weeks ago over 35,000!!!

does anyone else experience this? Is it normal?

Not at all normal.
One might reasonably expect double that number.

If you want to increase it to a more normal rate, subscribe to Al Jazeera news, 9/11 updates (civilian) or any site of which the U.K. or U.S.A. govts. dissaprove.

To really see your number of hits rocket, visit warez and underground sites on a regular basis.

I hope that is of some use.

BTW - have you checked the sources of your 'hits'?

Try using the above site to gain info on who or what is trying to access your system Visit www.bluetack.co.uk for a little free program called Protowall that might be a bit tricky to install, but when used with the Blocklist Manager that they have created (also free), you can stop your computer from even contacting certain IP's. Maybe consider using a proxy http://www.stayinvisible.com/index.pl/proxy_list. Get Spybot S&D and Lavasoft Adaware to check your machine for any nasty little things that might be on it. Use this site to periodically check your security https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2. Best of luck in dealing with the problem. I would say your problem is a bit abnormal. I've had the same firewall installed on my computer for 4 months and have only had to block 237 access attempts in that time.
