French men have very little combat history too.Perhaps the planes are the only ones with a reverse gear and a white flag as standard equipment and the Indians want to be ready in case the Germans invade.

I think it comes down to three reasons. Cost, the Kermits have not sold any Rafales and are desperate to offload some. Two ToT (transfer of technology). Normally when you sell off weapons you don't give away all the secrets, mainly so that you have something up your sleeve if ever they are used against you. I believe the Kermits have agreed to hand over all information. Third, the IAF already uses Mirages so they trust the Kermit stuff.

Ouch! (and at the same time, )

More points for Andrew Neil today, who, 1 hr 12 mins in, pointed out 1) the deal isn't absolutely final - yet, and 2) The French give India zero foreign aid, we gave them £1.3 billion in the last 3 years.

How true. The Typhoon is the world's most advanced and superior air-combat aircraft - fact. It should sell itself.
