i was a member of the SDP from the 1st days of the party, i was a local ward secretary & chairman of my local constituency young SDP .
I would rejoin & stand for the party but for one reason , the constant mention of & i,m afraid praise it seems to me of another party .the UKIP.

I think the problem, here, at the moment is that there are not enough SDP members on BDF to talk to each other in the Party section.

Yes you are correct that UKIP is the nearest party to UKIP, and on many policies we are identical in our views. But the differences between UKIP and the SDP is that UKIP is right of centre, and the SDP is left of centre.

The SDP would agree with UKIP on immigration and leaving the European Union.

    The SDP differs from UKIP
1/ The SDP would remove VAT from electricity, gas and heating oil.
2/ The SDP want an English Parliament within the United Kingdom.
3/ The SDP is against the export of live animals for slaughter.
4/ The SDP want to build council houses for rent.
5/ The SDP believe in Socialism.
6/ The SDP believe that the British government should protect British businesses and jobs.
7/ The SDP believe in a Buy British Campaign
8/ The SDP believe in Balanced Free Trade, where no-one runs a huge deficit and no-one runs a huge surplus, and the IMF help those in deficit to get back into reasonable trade balance.

These areas are where the SDP disagrees with UKIP
