    The EU demand for a 4.9% increase flies in the face of not only Cameron, but also Merkel and Sarko. They asked for moderation and the Commission has thrown down the gauntlet. There is no basis for the EU getting an extra 4.9% increase in funding when Ireland, Portugal and Greece are being forced to make massive cuts. Spain, ourselves, the French and Germans are trying to balance budgets. The Finns, Swedes and Dutch, who are also amongst those who will be asked to stump up the most, are already seeing red. The Dutch have got hooked on a debate about EU finding being given to a dance project in Burkina Faso (we don't fund our national dances in the UK) when everyone else is being asked to make cuts. It's now a joke, but an expensive one at that. If Cameron pays the cash then he is beholden forever to an organisation that can take money that we don't have. All the cuts and savings will be in vain if the EU negates the efforts.

    Sadly I don't think Cameron has got the bottle and will make more cuts in our services to fund the EU profligacy.

    I suspect that the voting public won't be sophisticated enough at the local elections to do anything other than vote for the big 3 (my choices are Tory, Green and Lib Dem in any event). Nothing will change. DC is wedded to the EU.

    I must say I thought his account of the Tories record on the EU was a little kind. However, if this were the start of a change of heart - I could forgive a spot of revisionist history.

    It seems that it is Labour that might be changing its mind - this of course will require a change of heart by the Unions as they are the Party's principle paymaster. It could be that Union members are putting pressure on their leaders as the object is hardly to see so many jobs filled by immigrants, either from the EU or elsewhere, whilst so many young Brits are unable to find work.

    Labour, of course, should not be able to return to power for a generation after their last disastrous administration, but are already favorites to win the next GE. Lets hope their eurosceptism does grow.

    Surely A you would vote Labour if they promised to take us out. Have you got a red jumper - pink would probably do at a push!
