Yes, it's also a pity they don't concentrate on education and also make serious moves toward a new industrialisation for a spent industrialised west. This idea that you can just dredge up the terrible past, although profitable for super capitalists, isn't the way to go. And it isn't the way to go because it isn't the way things are going. Japan was destroyed in many ways by over industrialisation after the War. It is gigantically overpopulated. So are many countries like Jordan and Egypt that are basically desert. A green solution doesn't mean wearing a windmill on your hat and eating veggies, loving the world and being a "liberal". A green solution would be tough but effective and should be motivated by educated people among whom scientists and economists form the greater part of the solution.
Humans are reaching a critical point in their evolution and if they will not give up mundane belief and egotism, hedonism and myopia for sanity and common sense humanity could well be looking at a last days scenario and entering a period of Dark Age devolution. Backwards and downwards instead of onwards and upwards. This has already been revealed by the fact that the alternative political groups cannot do much but foment dissent and misery on the internet. This is their best chance of getting a new message across and all they do is fight over race and fight one another over psychotic ideation and the grand Aryan ideal.
I agree with you, M3, that unless a better quality politcal warrior enters the battlefield much will be lost. Of course in every scenario like this there is invariably another waiting to take what has fallen, so they should consider this too before they rush to put a sword through their own folk. Perhaps the moment will produce the people needed, as it often has in the past. It would be tragic, however, if these people ended up on the spikes of their own rabble.
