    Where have I said that?

I do think petitions are usually ignored but in this case if she gets the number of signatures and Dave honours his promise then there will at least be a debate in Parliament.

I also totally support Nikki's work ethic compared to EUKIPs MEPs.

I keep forgetting that Nikki isn't working for a referendum but merely yet another debate about a referendum. Such a debate might make sense for the Nikki Sinclaire publicity drive but for opponents of a referendum such as yourself don't you think there are more relevant things for parliament to consider? How about the UK contribution to the Euro bailouts for example? You have a majority in parliament against a referendum so why waste time debating it for the umpteenth time?

Once again I repeat where have I said I'm an opponent of referendums?

Again I repeat I do think petitions in the main change little but a petition which tests Dave's promise to debate petitions of over 100,000 signatures is certainly better than doing SFA like EUKIP does.

I referred to "a referendum" (ie a referendum about EU membership) not referendums in general & specifically mentioned the Sinclaire campaign. In that regard you need to refresh your memory of this topic from page 13 onwards. The following summarises your view well enough in my opinion:

#134 - We don't necessarily need a referendum to leave the EU in any event. Properly educated about life after the EU the British people would push our Governement to enact the legistation ot get us out. However if it comes to a referendum it must ONLY be held when we would be most likely to win it - and that time is NOT now IMO.
As for the Cameron position, it is nothing like what you have claimed today and in the past:

    Introduction to e-petitions | Number10.gov.uk

In line with the commitments in the Programme for Government published in May 2010, e-petitions that receive 100,000 signatures or more will be eligible for debate in Parliament.

Cabinet Office, Directgov and the Office of the Leader of the House of Commons are working together on the implementation of this system and further announcements will be made soon.
    (my bold)

I'm eligible to marry Pippa Middleton. Doesn't mean it is ever going to happen!

An IN or OUT referendum WITHOUT putting in the ground work is a risk IMO but Nikki's initiative is to try and get the issue debated. A debate does NOT guarantee a referendum does it. Also as you point out Dave will probably not grant a debate anyway. But if that is the case then Nikki will get further good PR from that.

So her initiative is helping to keep the anit EU pot boiling.

Now what exactly is EUKIP's big initiative at he moment?

Ah yes to join a Pan European Party and become even more integrated into the EU.

I knew Mike Smith when I was UKIP Chairman of Cheltenham and he was Chairman of Gloucester (as he still is).

He was always totally pro UKIP and would not accept Nigel and his cabal were harming UKIP.

So for him to now publicly point out UKIP is EUKIP is important turn about.

Also better late than never and lets hope he is one of many worms that start turning.

As Eric Edmond asks at the end of this piece - what is Nigel's EUKIP doing to take advantage of the turmoil in the EU?

I can answer that with a video. He is singing a nursery rhyme with a group of people including the obligatory token ethnic so that he can appease the BBC. (Warning: this video contains strong scenes of a cringeworthy nature.)

You are right cringe making and awful sound quality as well -- Anyway that was the 24th of May and today is the 12th June.

To adapt EUKIP's great leader Nigel Farage from the video clip :-

"There is a hole in UKIP dear Liza dear Liza"
"There is a hole in UKIP dear Liza a hole"

The response to the question " With what what shall I mend it dear Liza dear Liza" is surely:-

" With a new leader dear Henry dear Henry dear Henry"
" With a new leader dear Henry dear Henry a new leader"
