New cross-party referendum campaign launches!
A new campaign has been launched, fronted by Daniel Hannan...

At least it is getting some exposure.Hannon and Lea in Telegraph article ,Hannon on Politics Show today talking about it .
Ian Dale supporting it.
Indeed. The attempt to con the people into thinking that the Tories are Euro-sceptic continues.

Another petition. Great.
To some extent I share your cynicism re this petition but it is good to see Ruth Lea nailing her colours to the mast
and also Hannon. If this is genuinely broad church /cross party then it is a useful way to build bridges for possible future action .
I suspect that the initial spur for this was from UKIP`s upper echelons to stop Nikki Sinclaire`s frankly identical petition especially looking at the initiators of the project- in the main friends /associates of Farage but you never know it may take on a mind and momentum of its own
and actually benefit the movement.
I suspect that Nikki S and UKIP will pull apart to such a degree that their paths will never cross amicably again as this ratcheting up of the action on the petition is definitely a gauntlet thrown in the dust by UKIP to Miss Sinclaire.
The problem for her is the fact that the big battalions still reside with Farage/Pearson and co.
It will be interesting to see how it pans out.
One thing that the anti EU brigade should perhaps keep in mind is that we need to use whatever means we can to galvanise the country into action to get out of the EU ,time is short.

I agree with Petrina on this.

Although I do dislike this UKIP ‘control freakery’. The scales fell from my eyes during the Reform/Con/Lisbon Treaty campaigns. We set up our own ramshackle protest in our city centre because it seemed to us that UKIP weren’t interested.
When I renewed my membership there was a sentence or two reminding me that nobody should campaign on any anti-EU issue without UKIP being involved. I thought it was heavy handed. I wish we could have a person of stature, integrity, and common sense who will bang all the heads together.
(dodges arrows from both sides)
Stratus I agree with your every word. Can`t often say that on this site! I was so appalled by the lack of UKIP`s action re the Lisbon Treaty that I resigned from the party at that point.
The opposition to Lisbon should have been UKIP`s finest moment instead it was as dead as a dodo.
I spoke to couple of people who went to hear Hannon a few days ago in Sussex,he was giving a speach on the referendum petition ,they were enthused re the petition but thought that Hannon was a bit pathetic in the way that he backed Cameron`s volte face re giving us a refendum on Lisbon. They forget that he is a Tory MEP and wishes to stay that way.
At least he is getting out and rallying the troops .Are UKIP actually doing anything or are they yet again leaving it to the Tories?
If not then the sooner UKIP gets a decent leader the better.
The EU Referendum Campaign is gathering huge momentum. We don't have a 'leader' or and ego or any one single person dictating their own personal aims and ambitions. It is a truely 'people's movement'. Please go to www.eureferendumcampaign.com and sign The Pledge.
sorry, forgot to mention - this isn't just another petition......in fact it isn't a petition at all. If you go to The Pledge (www.eupledge.com) and look under 'Strategy', you will see how we can make a difference. Thanks, james
