I was just wondering, is there anyone in the Communist Party of Britain who has some faint idea of basic economic principles???

Interesting you should point that out because most communists have little idea what communism is. Communism is a doctrinal of Marx and Engels which basically put's the world back before the industrial revolution. The interesting thing about modern day so called communist is they all have a different idea of their own about exactly what communism is so if their is another communist revolution it won't be long before all the communist will be fighting amongst them selves over where exactly they are heading which is a serious recipe for disaster.

Has Communism ever really been tried?
We’re not just about Europe.
No it hasn't. The "communism" that supposedly existed in eastern Europe was state capitalism, where an elite ran industries and business and generated profit for themselves, rather than using their power to create the moneyless and stateless society that Marx envisaged.
'Orrible nasty farchisst
Communism has often been cited as the policy of a country when in fact it was a dictatorship. From Stalin to Mao even to Cuba benign yes, but still a dictatorship. No country can become Communist in isolation as it has to exist in a capitalistic world and as under Communism there is no money either personal or National, international trade would be impossible at any sort of practicable levels.
The Modern concept of Socialism that I support encourages the development of Capitalism as almost a crop to be maintained, supported, protected, and sensibly harvested to fund a vibrant social infrastructure that would of course in turn support and service the capitalist side by working for it, and purchasing from it. A phrase I tend to flog to death is, "Symbiotic Relationship" for that is what is needed between a strong Capitalistic side and strong socially dedicated Socialist side each working to aid the development of the other.
If only we could dump those b100dy party's!
