Default Thinking of joining the Green Party - any help here?

    Hello Greeners!

Like the title of this message says, I'm thinking if joining the Green Party. I did an online quiz for fun the other day, where it lists all of the political party policies in the UK, and you select which one you prefer without knowing to which party they belong.

Apparently, I'm around 70% Green and 30% Liberal Democrat/Labour. (I know it would be silly to base your political alignment on an online quiz, of course, I just thought it was interesting, as I had always been tempted to join the Green Party and very much respect Caroline Lucas.)

But even while I agree with the main policies of the Green Party, it's one of its smaller policies which is giving me a problem in fully committing to the Party. It's the policy which says they are against animal testing.

Even though I'm a vegetarian, I fully support animal testing for medical research. Are there any GP members here who have a similar belief, yet are still members? And how did you reconcile this?

From their website the Green party now seems to have dropped their environmental agenda as a priority and replaced it by wimin and social benefit megaspend a La Lib dem light.

Since you're vegetarianist, I don't think you'll feel at home in the Green Party. They eat babies, sadly.

I used to be a member of the Green Party when they supported withdrawal from the EU. Then they changed that policy so I left.

Greens come in dfferent forms and across the political spectrum. Some are conservative and some are red-greens. The English Greens are quite left-wing, although they do have some centrists and right-wing Greens so you could pursue your own agenda.

Most Greens across the political spectrum would be against animal testing. But I think it's quite a small issue and no party is going to have 100% for or against.

To be fair to the Greens their policy is radical reform of the EU, they are against the way it is currently run and constituted. I'm happy to describe myself as a Green Nationalist, and there's more about than you'd think. Supporters of the magazine Alternative Green are pretty tribal/nationalistic/anti-liberal, and there are political parties that go against the leftist tide like the Ecological Democratic Party in Germany and a similar party in Greece. Green nationalism is also an influential current in the Autonomous Nationalist scene in Europe (which is also gaining a foothold in the UK)

"Green" has been tainted by the AGW nonsense.
It was the leadership who took the website down, not Simon - Visit YourBNP for the proof.
